What Should I Do Before I Shop For Auto Financing?

Before you shop for your auto financing, there are a few things you should to in order to be properly armed.

  • You should get a copy of your credit report and correct and errors and/or negative reports. Your auto financing will depend on this heavily. Have a copy of that credit report with you when you go to the dealership to set up your auto financing.
  • Know exactly how much you can safely spend on your car. Don’t just look at what your monthly payments will be see what it will come to with your auto financing.
  • If you know the kind of car you want then visit the manufacturer’s website to see if there are any special incentives of other deals that are being offered. Many of these deals are there for you whether or not your auto financing is being done by the dealer. If there are any, make copies and take them with you when you go to the dealer. Also make copies of the suggested list prices for the car you want.
  • If you are looking to buy a used car, take a repair person with you so that you will know what repairs need to be made, and what they will cost in the event you are charged more by the dealer when he adds them to the cost of the car. This will affect the auto financing.

These are some of the things you should be armed with when looking for that car, whether it is new of used, as they will affect your auto financing.
